El Port de la Selva is located at the end of the GR-11, the Pyrenean path, a big itinerary that crosses all the Spanish Pyrenees, at the foot of the Monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes, from where a route of Santiago starts. Sant Pere de Rodes was an important center of Pilgrimage during the middle Ages with a great legend. Several dolmens and prehistoric remains can be found on the hills surrounding the monastery. This coast is known as the coast of the Arabian nights.
